Cause of Female Hair Loss - Discover Some of the Common Causes for Hair Loss in Women

When we think of hair loss we immediately think of it being a male issue. However, hair loss is also a female problem. Men, more often than not deal with the issue, however, for a women it can be demoralizing, especially in this media centered world, where image is everything. So what is the cause of female hair loss in today's society?

It has been stated that there are over 25 million women who suffer from hair loss caused by anxiety. This number also seems to be on the rise, especially with all the pressures that are put on women today.

Genetics has been put forward as a cause of female hair loss. However, there are studies that indicate this is maybe not the case.

Hormone imbalance has been stated as a cause of female hair loss, in that estrogen is present in a women's body and this can play a big part in hair loss. As can be seen in women who are over 60 their hair is a lot thinner than it was when they were younger. This can be put down to the menopause and the change in estrogen levels. Therefore, most women who are post- menopause will see a difference in their hair as it becomes thinner. However, there are some women who are pre-menopause and are still experiencing hair loss. This cause of female hair loss can be put down to the birth control pill. This pill contains estrogen and as mentioned previously is a contributor to hair loss.

One other cause of female hair loss is child birth. Sometimes women experience hair loss post- nataly. This should not be seen as a major concern as it is a natural function of the female body. Before giving birth the hormonal change in a women's body promotes faster growth with the hair becoming really luscious and thick. However, once the baby is born the hormonal change will then alter the whole hair growth process and this will result in all the old hair shedding in order to make way for the new hair. This should not be a major concern as it will be corrected once the body synchronises back to the normal cycle.
